The wrist is made up of 8 delicate bones; if not taken care of there are numerous possibilities of wrist pain. Some conditions are unavoidable, and other conditions may come from something as simple as trying to catch yourself after tripping. The most common medical conditions involving the wrist are sprains, fracture, arthritis and excessive stress on the wrist. If you believe you fractured your wrist you must seek medical care immediately before your wrist gets even worse.

A pinched nerve in the wrist could make your whole hand “fall asleep” and a pinched nerve near the spine could affect an entire section of your body, this is dependent upon the location of the pinched nerve.
Symptoms of a Pinched Nerve: Tingling, numbness, sharp/burning/aching pain, weak feeling, or your hands or feet frequently “fall asleep”

The treatment for wrist pain varies depending upon the kind of pain (aching/sharp/dull/tingling/numbness) and cause. If you have a sprain or have put an excessive amount of stress on your wrist, then let it rest and keep an ice pack on it to reduce the pain (this also reduces swelling if there is any). If there is swelling you can also use an elastic bandage to compress your wrist. If your wrist is feeling sharp pain, has swelling, and/or has bruising go see a doctor immediately because you may have fractured your wrist. If pain persists after trying the “on your own” treatments or you feel your wrist pain is a symptom for something worse, contact Pegasus Pain Management to find the treatment that is right for you.
